Ganesha

The Lord of Success
"The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephant countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being.  He is lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles.  He is also worshiped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth"
Look we all got a  Bindi!
I was invited to celebrate the Hindu god Ganesha this weekend.  Kalpana welcomed us into her home with her other friends and family to enjoy good company and mouth watering food.  It was a nice to be in a home and learn about some of their traditions.  Kalpana is a teacher at ABAC and I see her around campus and sometimes early mornings at the gym.

Shrine to Ganesha with many offerings.  When we left we all got a bag with some of the offerings that were around the shrine.  Bananas, pieces of coconuts, apples and some other things to be honest I am not quite sure what they are.
The FEAST! Homemade authentic Indian food. (pretend the sprite and fanta bottles are not there) I tried a little bit of everything. Liked some things and LOVED others.  The flavors were unlike anything I ever had. I mean I know I went to India and tried the food there, but we could never read the menus or would know what we were eating.  A new appreciation for good Indian food was uncovered this afternoon.  What a great Sunday and so thankful I got to be a part of it!
